Flipped: Branding and logo design for automobile sales company in Ottawa, Canada

Flipped removes the hassle and risk of selling and buying used cars. Guaranteed sales in 72 hours, and no contact with tire kickers, negotiators, or scammers set Flipped apart. idApostle was charged with creating branding to help define Flipped as a progressive, and trustworthy alternative to traditional methods of selling and buying used vehicles.

The result is a bold, minimal, and gender neutral identity system. The Flipped symbol mimics the customer experience, with supplementary branding elements providing support for communicating key differences including its ‘fresh’ supply, straightforward approach, and simplicity.

idApostle was approached to develop the branding as well as define how to explain best the Flipped service. In addition to establishing the tone of all communications, copywriting, and designing a variety of print and online deliverables,  we even wrote the companies elevator pitch.

The name Flipped is approachable and captures the speed and simplicity of their service. The logo leverages the name by spitting a car into two halves separated by a vertical line. Only one-half of the car can be seen as the other half has disappeared—a key differentiator for Flipped is a guaranteed sale within 72 hours.

We created an identity system that encourages everyone to feel empowered. The primary audience has little experience selling vehicles, do not enjoy negotiating or corresponding with potential buyers, and ultimately just want to sell their vehicle safely, and for a reasonable amount.

Initial Sketch: The idea of highlighting “what a customer would be missing” came about early on in discovery.

Logo: The Flipped logo works equally well in black and white, colour, and reversed out. The white space between the vertical line and the Flipped name is key to the design—referencing what is now gone (sold).

Client Testimonial

“Working with idApostle was truly a great experience. Steve guided me through every step of my branding, gave me a professional overview of the work I would be receiving in exchange for what price, and delivered as promised. All things that may seem simple, but are unfortunately rare in business dealings today. The result was a brand I loved and could push proudly, which is exactly what I hired them for. I would (and have) strongly recommended idApostle to anyone looking to take their image to the next level.”
